The Back-to-School Math Activity for Multiplication

Isn't it cute! I tell you what this worksheet just gets me excited for back-to-school season!

Not only is it cute, but it also adds a little more rigor than just a normal multiplication equation.

Why do I ask students to find the product and then find it in a range of numbers?

The simple answer is that I want to promote good mental number sense and arithmetic strategies. I have students solve the multiplication fact sentence and THEN find that product in a range (download preview to view an example). Instead of just solving the same fact for one color over and over. For example; you won't see 7 x 4 and 4 x 7 for one color.
